PetSmart Shopper's, TAKE NOTE!

This was brought to my attention today.
I personally stopped a shopping at "pet" stores ages ago, but if you ever needed a reason not to, here you ago.

The PetSmart Investigation

For years, PetSmart has assured PETA that sick and injured animals in its stores are provided with veterinary care when they need it. We didn't take their word for it. During an undercover investigation at the PetSmart store in Manchester, Connecticut, a store that has a Banfield Hospital right inside it and that PetSmart boasts of as having an "outstanding pet care team" and an "exceptional pet care record," PETA documented more than 100 small animals—including hamsters, domestic rats, lizards, chinchillas, and birds—deprived of effective veterinary care and slowly dying, out of customers' sight.

16th BiAnnual Championship Show

The 16th BiAnnual Championship Show of the JFA has been announced! More information should be forthcoming on February 11th. For now, this is what we know:

DATE: 4/01/2007
PLACE: Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture, about one hour 30 minutes south of Tokyo by bullet train.
OFFICIAL SITE: http://ferret.gr.jp/
Japanese Only. Leave a comment here if you have particular questions about it.

IMPROVEMENTS I HOPE TO SEE AT THIS SHOW:
1) Not keeping the Jills and the Hobs in the same ring. The poor fuzzies are stressed enough already without that.
2) Better teeth care: Dental Health impacts the overall health of your fuzzy. Poorly kept teeth invite numerous diseases. The condition of the teeth were unbelievably awful considering how basic and easy a part of daily routine it can be.
3) More aggressive treatment for Adrenal disease: There were way too many balding tails last year.

Their new site is still under-construction, but she has announced that they plan to have their first IFC event in 2008.

A New Site Dedicated to Ferret Research: Ferret Knots
Ferret Knots is group of interested people looking to apply maths in the quest to find solutions to the problems of veterinary science. Historically, a majority of applied mathematics has been used to study human aliments; we wish now to turn our focus to other equally worthy endeavors - our companion animals.

Our goal is to provide a better quality of life for animal companions, specifically Mustela putorius furo - the domesticated ferret - through advances in disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks for being patient during the move and upgrades. Stay-tuned for more exciting information. The JFA has its National Spring Championship in April!
