お待たせしました!
Official Pics and News from the 17th Japanese National Ferret Championship!!

Overview:
There are many ferret shows across Japan, but the two main Championship shows that the AFA judges participate in are held in the Spring and Fall every year. They are normally held in the southern area on Japan's main island since the President of the JFA is from that area and she has to haul all that stuff around.

This Fall's Championship Highlights:
. lots and lots of fuzzies !!!!
. Tea Ceremony corner
. Large Drawing Contest (the one with the cups and tickets)
. A HUGE "Gallery" were private individuals could showcase their handmade goods. Some were for sale, some not. This was really amazing. Wait until you see the pictures from that.

This event marks the first time the Championship Show was held in the historic capital of Japan, Kyoto. As such, not surprisingly, there were a lot of "extras". Frankly, it was the best show I have been to to date. However, although I had a camera this time, you will have to wait to see the extras. My computer is still not fixed. (But it is on my New Year's Resolutions List!) In the meantime, please enjoy the contest winners from the "Anything Goes" Photo Contest below.

It goes without saying, but these pages are in Japanese. Instructions and translations provided by me.

CONTEST PHOTOS
1st Place Title: "PokaPoka"Poka Poka describes how you feel when you are all nice and warm inside. The camera person writes s/he fell into a doze and s/he didn't wake up at all! "A sleeping baby is a growing baby!" Judges comments: By far the highest score. Just seeing the picture is healing. An incredible sleeping face. *I so agree.
2nd Place Title: "Peach"The camera person reports that s/he saw their slightly overweight belly and thought,"Seems to resemble something..." Judges comments: Such a delicious looking belly. But overweight is NG! Please see they go on a gentle diet. *Typically, the Japanese associate a peach with the human tush so I thought this one was particularly funny.
3rd Place Title: "What Kindof Dream"The camera person reports that instead of a bed, s/he used a cap. With the tongue hanging out like that, s/he must have been eating some yummy treat in their dreams. Judges comments: Very cute the way s/he is snuggled perfectly inside the cap. I wonder if s/he could eat treats in their dreams.
JFA Special CommendationTitle: "Tomorrow Brings Tomorrow's Winds"The camera person says, "In the morning, when I open the curtains they often look out. It was good weather so they stayed like that for a bit." Judges comments: I can almost hear them saying, "The weather is so nice today!", "Let us play alot today too!". The morning light adds a soft finish.

Hope you enjoyed a taste of this years' Fall Championship! Stay tuned for more!!
Especially pictures from the "Gallery". ;)

As of 12/12/2007 windoze FATALLY crapped out on me. *again*.

Fortunately, as I am already well aware that windoze is worse then useless, when it died the first time just 14 months ago, I had a backup plan - I squished windoze onto 10GIG of my system and put the less unstable Linux SUSE OS on the rest. ;)

Geeky stuff follows...
Unfortunately, windoze was so corrupted this time that a simple reinstall didn't work. I was forced to format that drive entirely and lose anything i had there. It wasn't much- I know better than to keep important files ona windoze system, but Losing Netscape bookmarks (autosaved to windoze HD) really killed me though when I realized it. It's so easy to backup yet I put it off just a few days before windoze died. T_T T_T T_T And worse, windows being the monopolzing system that it is, it "rewrote" the MBR meaning I couldn't boot my still useable LINUX system until I fixed the MBR too. At that point I decided to finally take the plunge and go WINDOZE-FREE!! Like quitting smoking - I was on the 'patch' for awhile, using a measly 10GIG of my 60GIG system for windoze, and now I'm ready to get rid of the 'patch' and go WINDOZE-FREE. XD SUSE will reabsorb the 10G windoze HD and convert it to mere document storage. XD

Safe to read once again...
Although I'm sure some of you have been enjoying the break, enjoy it while you can. ;) I'll be up and fully functional by the end of Decemeber. Right now i'm booting from CD to my original SUSE installed OS so I'm semi-functional. I just need a large block of time to download the updates and install the updated version of SUSE and that's not going to happen until XMAS vacation. :P

Until then, cheers!
Wishing a Safe and Happy Holidays to You and Yours =)

Ok, I know I said I was going to flood the page with goodies from the Kyoto show, but this was too much.

I have a friend who always posts his ferret videos, usually 2-3 a week. In following the chronicles of Kogane ("little bell", Albino) and Kotarou (Sable Mitt) as usual, I came across this one towards the end of summer.

Apparently, Kogane, being mistress of all she surveys, kicked him out from her sleep spot behind the fridge.

I swear, if it had been me, I would have passed out. 6.6
