UPDATES on Ferret Food Recalls
Responses from Whole/Natural Prey Suppliers

Please check the previous 2 posts for the wealth of the necessary information. This is just another additional update.

Update 1
Original Post

NEW PICTURES:
If you could not stand even the thought of watching the video (like me), you should at least have a look at these pictures. It will really re-enforce what a good thing you are doing by helping any way you can.

NEW INFO:
WalMart gift cards are helpful.

A reminder that ferretdepot.com will give a 20% discount for orders shipped to Lori's address.

Fleece scraps - Please cut to 8" x 18". Lori does NOT have time to cut them so they must be pre-cut to that dimension.

She also needs trash bags, bleach, laundry detergent and cleaner.

NEW WEBSITE:
Even if you are not in a position to help out, I strongly encourage you to check out the web site and associated links. It is incredibly heart-warming to see even non-ferret-related sponsors and businesses step up to the plate to help out!

HUGE RESCUE in USA - update

UPDATES on Ferret Food Recalls
Responses from Whole/Natural Prey Suppliers

I have spoken with Julie at the shelter today! It seems cages are no longer a priority. What is needed however would be:

MONEY- PLEASE donate to this cause asap!!
Leather Gloves - These babies were not handled much and have been scared so they are biting a bit.
Anything Throwaway - This includes bedding, potty pads, newspaper and anything else you can think of. (SEE BELOW FOR MORE IDEAS.)
Fleece throws and Bedding - this is obvious. (SEE BELOW FOR MORE IDEAS.)
TOWELS - This is still a big need.
Volunteers - Sleep is a blessed commodity at the rescue and that means they need help! BIGTIME!

The address in which to send things:

Lori Sies
Ferret Dreamhouse
845 Tulip Road
Lynx, OH 45650

There is also a transport system for the ferrets. Transportation for the ferrets has been set up so for those who would like to take a group of babies. This means you may not have to drive the entire way to Ohio to pick them up only a portion. I can tell you there is a transportation chain coming in to the North Carolina / Georgia border very soon.

For more information on this or the phone number to call and arrange for transportation email me at: ferrethelp@comcast.net.

Please remember these folks are barley sleeping and really need help. Let us as a loving ferret community do ALL we can to HELP asap.

If you need my assistance for anything please let me know and I will do all I can to help!

Let’s please make sure everyone sees this updated message!

-Misty Hosier

THROWAWAY THINGS: Paper towels are always in huge demand at rescues.

BEDDING: Bedding can be any soft cloth without buttons or zippers. I frequently used my old Tshirts, or other unadorned cotton shirts in addition to normal ferret bedding.

FLEECE THROWS: pieces of fleece can be bought cheaply at Joann's fabrics or other such related stores. But please try to wash them once before sending. Often these new materials are packaged with chemicals for storage by the manufacturer and then just put out as is for sale.

Thanks again for and and all help.

HUGE RESCUE in USA, 700 need your HELP

UPDATES on Ferret Food Recalls
Responses from Whole/Natural Prey Suppliers

Yes folks, that is 700 ferrets rescued from appalling conditions at a minor mass breeder. They have all been dumped on one little ferret rescue in Ohio.

The rescue operator is asking for help of any kind, either monetary donations or adoptions or just plain simple help with the work load.

Here is a link to a YouTube video showing conditions at this breeder (I have heard parts of it are hard to watch. Personally I can't watch these things. Just hearing about parts of it is enough to give me nightmares.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eADmummyIkY

Anything you can do, even if it is just spreading the news to others who care, will be of great help to these ferrets. Every tiny bit helps in such a situation. Details are enclosed below.

-----------------PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY-----------------

Doug McKay, the notorious ferret breeder in Ohio who had been the subject of numerous protests and investigations over conditions at his ferretry, has finally thrown in the towel by dumping 700 (yes, that is seven hundred) unneutered, unvaccinated ferrets at a ferret rescue in Ohio. This is, to my knowledge, the largest single ferret rescue in American history.

The guidelines for adoption to be followed are:

1. A spay/neuter contract will have to be signed and you will be required to have them spayed/neutered within 60 days. Proof of spay/neuter must be sent to the shelter upon completion. Kits need to be spayed/neutered by 4 months of age. If you are picking up ferrets for someone other than yourself you must bring a signed contract by them.

2. Due to the large quantity, I cannot accommodate special color requests. I would prefer you take ferrets how they are grouped by cages if at all possible.

3. There will be no adoption fees, but a donation is requested.

I will be extremely busy taking care of these ferrets so I will not be answering e-mails other than adoption requests. If you are unable to adopt a ferret donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.

Thank you in advance.
